    The Song of Love is an oil painting produced in 1914 by Italian painter Giorgio de Chirico.

    The Song of Love was also known by the name Love Song or Le chant d’amour.

    The Song of Love depicts the head of a Classical Greek statue on the right of it was present a very large hand glove which was made up of rubber, a green ball below the head and a train being shrouded behind the head in the darkness silhouetted against a sky painted in bright blue color. On the horizon of this painting is the outline of a locomotive which means an image that recurs several times during Giorgio de Chirico’s career at that period. The painting The Song of Love depicts an outdoor setting of great architectural which was similar to other paintings made by Giorgio de Chirico around that period of time.

    The Song of Love was regarded as one of the most famous works of Giorgio de Chirico. This painting depicts Giorgio de Chirico’s surrealist style and strange fact was that this was painted somewhat ten years before surrealist movement which was led by Andre Breton in 1924. The painting was completed between June and July of 1914. The dimensions of the painting The Song of Love were 73 cm × 59.1 cm or 28 3⁄4 in × 23 3⁄8 in.

    The objects which were present in the painting The Song of Love, Giorgio de Chirico subverted those objects and termed them as the metaphysical paintings. Metaphysical paintings were famous to depict the world which lies beyond this physical world. The atmosphere was of anxiety and melancholy and many other painting of Giorgio de Chirico represents the life and universe which was being torn apart by World War I.
